I like to update and enforce some of the rules for zXc. On the rules page [Here] there is "-You must remain active in the forum". - Basically this means non active users(including the forums) can be kicked out of the clan. (If they don't leave a notice before hand). - This rule seems to very vague but basically If you don't post something on the forums in 2 weeks are un-active. and will be at risk of getting a warning. ------ Some might be wondering why "90 would have a such a stupid rule like that?" well, when i first designed zxc I have seen other clans fail to keep their members on the forums and I wanted zxc to be more of a community instead of a label. I realize that Deus Ex is a small community in general unlike some other games but Its still pretty popular. ------ If you want me to play or any other security in fact anyone in zxc to play with, bug them with -Personal Messages- , -Vent- , and -Instant Messenger- , Etc. be like, "90 you mofo you don't play Deus ex much anymore, your the leader of the clan show some support and fight me or w/e"... lol In will also give a update -Tomorrow- for the next security member and maybe some cool things. |

I think the main problem is the fact that almost nothing ever happens within the Deus Ex community. It's hard to talk about something that doesn't change. Basically, we are given the option to talk about: -Off topic. Off topic gets the majority of the posts (around 75% of the posts), but the subjects are usually exclusive. -Deus Ex singleplayer. Everyone knows every trick to playing the single player game. Additionally, the game is so easy, there would never be a reason to discuss it. -Standard Deus Ex multiplayer DM/TDM. I don't mean to be negative, but the standard DXMP DM/TDM is probably the most boring version of a mindless shooter ever created. Basically, it is: pick up a sniper rifle and an assault rifle off of the weapon rack, shoot players at a long range with a sniper, shoot players at a close range with an assault rifle, die, and repeat. -Modded weapon Deus Ex multiplayer DM/TDM (referring to TAC, TNAG, etc). The mods add extra game play, but usually they are poorly balanced to the point where they are no more fun than the standard game. TAC is the same as the standard game, except replace the standard sniper with the TAC sniper and replace the standard assault rifle with the TAC assault rifle. TNAG adds a little bit of variety, but it usually results in automatic sniper rifle combat. -Modded Deus Ex multiplayer (Cozmo RPG, zombie mod, cooperative, etc). These can be fun, but a strong mod built on a weak game doesn't work too well. Cozmo RPG is fun, but 10 people on a map that probably needs 100 doesn't work too well. Additionally, the whole RPG element is kind of weak, when the maximum equipment can be gained within a couple minutes. Zombie mod doesn't work well with the usual 4 or so players that play it and it gets really boring after a while. Cooperative maps are great, except that it takes the mapper several times longer to make the map than it has in game value (prison escape has around 30 minutes of game value, but took a few hours to make it). -Modding Deus Ex. Deus Ex has too small of a modding community to have a real conversation about modding. -Mapping Deus Ex. This has the same problem as modding; not enough mappers to have a conversation. Looking back on my post, I realize I went overboard. Still though, the problem with the activity on the forum is the fact that we don't have a common subject to talk about. |

Well yeah that's true ( Haven't even thought about that, props to you haha. ) but you also forgot that most members are inactive now. Which means less people we can talk with. |

People are inactive because there is nothing they want to talk about. If people found interest in the things that were going on, then people would have never become inactive in the first place. The "Security Slot update" topic shows what I mean. People, who haven't posted in weeks, suddenly became active for the day or two that they thought they had a chance to become a security member. --- By the way, I wasn't say that it is bad that things go off-topic. I was only saying that off-topic topics are very exclusive. For example, if people are talking about Deus Ex and then suddenly someone hi-jacks the topic with a rick-roll. Suddenly, everyone who doesn't care about rick-rolls will quit posting. Additionally, those who didn't want to talk about Deus Ex, but like rick-rolls won't post, since they are already ignoring the topic. Basically, (∀x ∈players)(∀y ∈threads)(∃z ∈topics within y)(x doesn't like z ⇒ x won't post on y). English translation: for all players and threads, if the player doesn't like one of the topics within the thread, the player won't post on the thread. |
