Hello everyone, I though maybe I would post pictures of my hobby. I decided to remove the injectors from my car and send them out to be cleaned by some guy. Since my car has well over 220,000 miles (355000 Km) For those of you who are not familiar with how cars work. The fuel injectors (as the name suggests) add the fuel to the air sucked in by the engine and thus the correct fuel air mixture is achieved through the pulsing of the injectors (turning on and off at frequencies determined by either the meter that measures how much air is being sucked in to the engine, or by the Oxygen sensor which is affected by how much oxygen is in the exaust gasses of the car). Now that I got that out of the way, ill post some other stuff. 1st picture not mine: ![]() First I had to remove the plenum which is pretty much the thing that distributes the air to each individual combustion chamber. Other components on and around the plenum had to be removed to yield the next picture: ![]() Here you can see i've removed the plenum and a few other things. The injectors are attached to the fuel supply rails. The fuel supply rails distribute the fuel to all 6 individual injectors ( 1 injector per cylinder). ![]() A zoomed in version. After removing 7 screws retaining the fuel injector assembly, the whole thing came out as one unit: ![]() Now you know how an injector looks like if you ever stumble across one of them. the thing on the left side (the shiny thing). is the fuel pressure regulator that regulates the fuel pressure (duh). here is an injector more zoomed in: ![]() This injectors oddly have 2 ports for the supply of fuel (not sure why). At the tip it has a plastic sleve that protects the tip of the injector. While I was at it removing the fuel injectors, i decided to also change out the valve cover gaskets. The valve cover pretty much seals the top of the engine which contains things (rocker arms) that open and close valves to let the air in and out of the engine. since the car has 220,000 miles, the old gaskets were dried up and the oil was leaking around them. ![]() I'll say it doesnt look so bad for a car with so many miles. This is just a zoomed out version: ![]() This is all i've got for now, until i receive the injectors which were sent out for cleaning. Hope this was entertaining to someone, sorry it wasnt relating to Deus ex. Perhaps something interesting we all could do is share a talent that we have and post pics of it on the forum. |
